Custom ERP Development & Extension
Build the ERP your operations need, or extend Odoo, ERPNext or SAP Business One without fighting the platform. Inventory, purchasing, sales, finance and HR, multi-company and e-invoicing ready.
What does Co-Mate's ERP development service cover?
Co-Mate builds custom ERP systems and extends existing platforms such as Odoo, ERPNext and SAP Business One. We deliver modules for inventory, purchasing, sales, finance and HR, handle multi-company and multi-currency setups, migrate your data with reconciliation, and design e-invoicing compliance in from the start, so the ERP fits your operations rather than the reverse.

ERP development is part of Co-Mate's digital transformation services. We are platform-neutral: we recommend extending what you have when it fits, and building custom only when it clearly pays off.
Who this is for
Who is ERP development for?
Companies whose operations have outgrown a basic accounting package, or whose current ERP needs so many workarounds that the team has stopped trusting it.
Typical buyers
- COOs and operations directors
- CFOs and finance controllers
- CTOs and IT heads planning an ERP change
- Owners of trading, distribution, manufacturing and service businesses
Signs you need it
- Stock figures in the system never match the warehouse, so teams keep their own counts.
- Purchase, sales and accounts each re-enter the same documents in different tools.
- Opening a new branch, company or currency means another spreadsheet.
- Your ERP partner quotes heavy customisation for every change, and upgrades break it.
- An e-invoicing mandate is coming and your current system cannot produce structured invoices.
What we build
Which ERP modules do we build or extend?
We work module by module, so you can start where the pain is greatest and add the rest in phases.
| Module | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Inventory & warehouse | Multi-location stock, batches and serials, transfers, stock counts, reorder levels and valuation. |
| Purchase | Requisitions, RFQs, purchase orders, approvals, goods receipt and three-way matching with supplier invoices. |
| Sales & distribution | Quotations, orders, delivery, invoicing, price lists, credit limits and returns. |
| Finance | Ledgers, receivables, payables, bank reconciliation, tax and management reporting, or sync with your existing accounting software. |
| HR & payroll inputs | Employees, attendance, leave and payroll inputs, often linked to an HRMS. |
| Manufacturing & projects | Bills of materials, work orders, job costing, project budgets and progress billing where relevant. |
| Multi-company & multi-currency | Separate legal entities, inter-company transactions, consolidation and exchange-rate handling. |
| E-invoicing readiness | Structured invoice data and connectors to ASPs, Peppol or tax-authority APIs. See e-invoicing integration. |
Should you extend Odoo, ERPNext or SAP B1, or build custom?
Extend a platform when most of what you need is standard and only a few processes are specific to you; build custom when the specific parts are the core of how you make money.
| Option | Fits when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Extend Odoo or ERPNext | Standard accounting, stock and sales with a few custom workflows or reports. | Customisations that touch core modules can complicate version upgrades. |
| Extend SAP Business One | You already run SAP B1 and need add-ons, integrations or industry screens. | Partner and licence dependencies; changes must follow the SDK and Service Layer. |
| Custom ERP | Operations are unusual (rental, project-based, multi-party service) or every module would need heavy changes. | Needs a strong discovery phase and a long-term support plan. |
| Hybrid | Keep your accounting system for the ledger; build custom operational modules around it. | A reliable, monitored integration between the two is essential. |
The detailed comparison, with questions to ask your team, is in Odoo vs custom ERP: which fits your business?
Is the ERP ready for e-invoicing mandates?
It will be, because we design for it from day one. E-invoicing mandates in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Europe and elsewhere require structured invoice data, specific tax fields and a connection to a service provider or tax authority. Retrofitting that into an ERP later is far harder than modelling it upfront.
Every ERP we build or extend stores the data that mandates need: buyer and seller tax identifiers, item classifications, tax breakdowns and credit-note references. The connector to your Accredited Service Provider, Peppol Access Point or authority API is part of the same project. Co-Mate is an integration engineering company, not an accredited provider; see our e-invoicing integration pages for each country.
How does an engagement work?
Five phases, each with a clear output you can review before the next one starts.
- 1
Discovery
We map your order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and record-to-report flows, and list what the current system does and does not do.
- 2
Architecture & scope
You get a build-or-extend recommendation, data model, module plan, integration map and migration approach.
- 3
Build in milestones
Modules are delivered in milestones, tested against real transactions from your business, and signed off by the process owner.
- 4
Launch
Data migration with reconciliation, cut-over planning around your financial periods, and role-based training.
- 5
Support & scale
Support through the first closings, then new modules, reports and integrations as operations grow.
Which engagement model fits?
There are three ways to work with Co-Mate; the right one depends on how settled your scope is and how long the system will keep evolving.
| Model | Best for | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed-scope project | A defined first version or a specific integration with clear requirements. | We agree modules, milestones and acceptance criteria up front, then deliver against them. Changes are scoped and agreed before work starts. |
| Dedicated engineering team | Larger programmes, evolving roadmaps or several systems built in parallel. | Senior engineers work as an extension of your team on your priorities, with sprint planning, demos and shared tooling. |
| Ongoing retainer / support | Systems already live that need maintenance, monitoring, hosting support and steady improvements. | A reserved block of engineering time each month, with agreed response times for issues and a backlog of improvements. |
ERP work usually suits a fixed-scope project per phase (for example, inventory and purchasing first). Companies replacing a full ERP across several entities often add a dedicated team, and a retainer covers ongoing changes after go-live.
What does the ERP connect to?
An ERP sits at the centre of your systems. We connect it to sales channels, accounting, HR and compliance platforms through APIs and webhooks, as described in system integration.

Tech & infrastructure
Cloud or on-premise
Your choice of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or on-premise servers, with data residency matched to your jurisdiction.
Security & audit
Role and branch permissions on the server, segregation of duties, full audit trails and encrypted backups.
Data ownership
Your database and your code. Exports in open formats, so you are never locked in.
Scalability
Designed for growing transaction volumes, more entities and more users, with performance testing before go-live.
Where do we work?
Anywhere. Co-Mate is a remote-first engineering studio in Kerala, India, delivering for businesses worldwide.
GCC
Our working day covers the whole GCC business morning and early afternoon.
Europe & UK
Strong overlap with European and UK working hours for calls, reviews and releases.
US & Americas
Scheduled overlap with US mornings for workshops, demos and decision meetings.
India, APAC & Australia
Same or near time zone, so day-to-day collaboration is simple.
Discovery workshops, demos and training run online. You talk directly to the senior engineers who design and build your system, not to an account manager relaying messages.
