France E-Invoicing Integration
Connect your ERP to a certified French e-invoicing platform. We handle Factur-X, UBL and CII output, inbound supplier invoices, lifecycle statuses and e-reporting, around the system you already use.
Who must comply with France e-invoicing?
The reform applies to businesses established in France and subject to VAT, for transactions between them (domestic B2B). It has two parts:
- E-invoicing: domestic B2B invoices must be issued and received electronically through certified platforms.
- E-reporting: data on B2C sales, cross-border B2B transactions and, for some services, payments must be transmitted to the administration.
The rollout is phased: every business must be able to receive e-invoices from the start, while the obligation to issue applies first to large and mid-sized companies and later to small and micro businesses. Check the official calendar on impots.gouv.fr for your company.
How does French e-invoicing work?
France uses a decentralised model with certified platforms. Each business chooses a plateforme agréée. Your platform sends your invoice to the buyer's platform and transmits the required data to the tax administration (DGFiP). A central directory tells platforms where each company receives invoices.
Invoices also carry lifecycle statuses (submitted, received, rejected, approved, paid…), some of which are mandatory and reported to the administration.
- Definition: Plateforme agréée (PA)
- A private e-invoicing platform certified by the French tax administration to exchange invoices between businesses and transmit invoice, e-reporting and payment data to the DGFiP. Previously called PDP.
Which formats and data does France require?
- Factur-X: a PDF/A-3 with embedded CII XML, readable by people and machines.
- UBL and UN/CEFACT CII XML.
- EN 16931 semantic model with French extensions and rules.
- New mandatory mentions, such as the buyer's SIREN, the delivery address where different, the transaction category (goods, services or both) and the VAT-on-payments option where applicable.
- Lifecycle statuses exchanged and stored with each invoice.
How does Co-Mate connect your ERP for French e-invoicing?
We extract invoices and credit notes from your ERP, generate Factur-X, UBL or CII, validate them and send them through your platform's API. Inbound supplier invoices come back into accounts payable as draft bills. Statuses sync both ways, and B2C and cross-border data is compiled for e-reporting from the same source. If you also invoice in Germany, Spain or other Peppol countries, the same connector serves them through country modules.

Implementation steps
A predictable path from first call to live, monitored e-invoicing.
- 1
Scope & calendar check
Confirm which French entities must receive and issue e-invoices, which phase applies by company size, and which flows need e-reporting (B2C, cross-border).
- 2
Platform selection
Choose a certified platform (plateforme agréée). We give a neutral technical comparison of APIs and ERP support, and integrate with your choice.
- 3
Format & data mapping
Map ERP data to Factur-X, UBL or CII under the French rules, including SIREN/SIRET, new mandatory mentions, delivery address and transaction category.
- 4
Connector build
Outbound invoices, inbound supplier invoices into AP, lifecycle statuses (received, approved, paid…) and e-reporting data, all through your platform's API.
- 5
Testing
End-to-end tests with your platform: invoices, credit notes, deposits, self-billing, multi-VAT, and status round-trips.
- 6
Go-live & support
Phased switch-on by entity, monitoring of rejections and statuses, and updates as the DGFiP specifications evolve.
Common France e-invoicing challenges and how we handle them
| Challenge | Why it matters | How we handle it |
|---|---|---|
| New mandatory mentions | Invoices need extra data such as SIREN, delivery address and transaction category. | Field gap analysis and ERP master-data updates before the build. |
| Lifecycle statuses | Statuses like rejected, approved or paid must flow between parties and the administration. | Two-way status sync between the platform and your ERP. |
| E-reporting alongside e-invoicing | B2C and cross-border sales need separate data transmission. | One connector producing both invoice and e-reporting data from the same source. |
| Inbound volume | Receiving e-invoices hits every company first. | Inbound flow into AP with supplier matching and draft bills. |
| Group entities in several countries | France rules differ from Germany, Spain or Belgium. | Canonical invoice model with a French output module. |
